Steal Or Die Controls: Movement, Interaction and Role Actions
Controls
- Learn the actions: Separate moving, interacting with loot, using light and entering a hiding option.
- Choose your device: The game advertises PC, phone, tablet, console and VR support, including custom touch controls.
Keep movement, pickups, light and hiding actions distinct on your device.
Start with the action you intend
Steal Or Die asks you to move through a building, collect items and reach an exit while a monster hunts you. Learn those intentions separately before trying to do everything during a chase. A deliberate interaction with one item teaches more than repeatedly pressing controls while your view and movement are changing.
Begin in a quiet moment. Keep a doorway in view, make the movement you intended and then interact with a nearby pickup. Add flashlight use and a hiding action once those first intentions feel distinct. This is a suggested learning order, rather than an unlock sequence.
| Action | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Movement | Reach a remembered doorway or return route. |
| Loot interaction | Pick up the intended item before choosing the next burden. |
| Flashlight | Identify useful detail while accounting for visible light. |
| Hiding | Use an accessible option without forgetting the final exit. |
A successful input can still be a noisy choice
Knowing how to move does not decide whether moving now is useful. The entity hears footsteps and voice, and the tutorial describes light as visible to it. A control can work exactly as intended while the action reveals you. Keep that gameplay consequence attached to the input you are learning.
Similarly, a slower return after collecting valuable loot is part of the advertised carrying tradeoff. Do not immediately treat it as an unresponsive movement control. The carrying-weight guide explains that difference so you can choose between changing the load and changing the setup.
Use the right reference for the device
The experience explicitly supports PC, phone, tablet, console and VR. Phone and tablet use custom touch controls; VR advertises real hands and real crouching. Those statements do not make another game’s keyboard shortcuts or controller buttons a reliable reference for this one.
Use the mobile controls guide for touch attention and the VR guide for the physical interaction context. Keep the game’s current control labels beside the action you are rehearsing, then return to a small loot run. The goal is an action you can choose deliberately under pressure, without guessing that every device shares the same binding.
