Steal Or Die Monster Guide: Hunt the Return Route
Monster Guide
- Your role: The official experience lets you play as the entity and hunt other players.
- Useful priority: Consider where a survivor wants to loot and where that survivor eventually needs to return.
Use survivor goals and sound clues to give the playable entity a hunting plan.
Think about the destination behind the footsteps
When you take the entity role in Steal Or Die, the survivor’s task gives your hunt context. Players search for valuables and need to leave the building with them. A sound is useful information about that journey, not just an instruction to run toward the last noise indefinitely.
Consider the route that connects a searched room to an exit. If a survivor is carrying valuable loot, slower movement can make a direct return especially important. An interception choice can be more purposeful than following every turn after contact is already lost.
Use information before committing to a chase
The game advertises footsteps and voice as detection inputs. Listen for a useful direction, then connect it to the building rather than assuming every noise is the same person doing the same thing. A noisy group can draw attention away from a quieter survivor’s return.
When you know where a player was, choose the next position for a reason: a doorway that connects the room, a route toward valuable loot or the approach to the exit. This is an editorial hunting priority, not a claim that the monster has a hidden map marker or guaranteed tracking ability.
Learn the entity’s perspective separately
The Locust and The Hollow are named official examples, and their focused guides describe different presentation and hunting context. Keep the entity you are controlling attached to what you can actually perceive. A reported visual limitation is a reason to use the available information carefully, not to invent an unseen target.
Use sound detection to understand the signals survivors are trying to reduce. Then read the entity comparison when choosing which named role to learn. A clearer hunt begins with a deliberate information-to-route decision, rather than more frantic movement.
